It’s hard to believe it’s October already, which means the winter holidays are just around the corner and we think it’s a great time to do a deep clean of your apartment before life gets crazy busy. The Link 480 Blog has some useful tips to help you get your apartment deep cleaned this month so you can relax and enjoy decorating without the stress of cleaning too.
Get Prepared to Clean
Before you begin cleaning, get the right cleaning supplies. In addition to a broom and paper towels, grab an all-purpose cleaning spray, garbage bags, glass cleaner, vacuum, duster, and a few bins (an empty laundry basket will do just fine). Molly Maid has put together a list of basic cleaning supplies that will help you keep your apartment in tip-top condition.
Create a List
Make a list of all the chores you need to get done and everything you need to clean. You could also use a pre-made list from online, like The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist from I Dream of Clean that categorizes everything for you by rooms. It is a good idea to make a list first so you don’t miss anything when you start cleaning.
Declutter and Organize
Before you start scrubbing and vacuuming, it may be helpful to go about decluttering your apartment. Throw away any trash and old or unwanted items. You could make a pile of unwanted clothing or other items to donate to a local thrift store. Use an empty basket to go about collecting stray items around the house and putting them back where they belong.
As part of your decluttering project, take time to go through your holiday decor. Repair or toss broken items. Donate items you no longer use. Check your holiday lights to make sure they are working and repair or replace them as needed. Check your gift-wrapping supplies and make note of what needs to be replenished. Doing this ahead of time means that when it comes time to actually do the decorating, everything will be ready.
