Welcome back to the Link 480 Blog coming to your from Beverly, MA! Can you believe December is already here? There’s no doubt about it, this month will fill up fast what with the holidays coming up, and we know that can get stressful, so we are sharing a few lesser-known holidays that can help you slow down, relax, and enjoy the month right from your apartment. Read on to learn more!

National Brownie Day (Dec 8)

Triple Dark Chocolate Truffle Brownies from Sprinkle Some Sugar

Had a bad day at work? Destress with a pan of triple dark chocolate truffle brownies. These fudgy brownies are loaded with chocolate. You use regular cocoa powder, dark cocoa powder, Oreos, and chocolate chips to make this treat. It’s also loaded with a lot of butter (and not very much flour) making for the fudgiest brownies we’ve ever tried. Remember to have these brownies with a scoop of ice cream or a tall glass of milk.

Crossword Puzzle Day (Dec 21)

Take time out to celebrate Crossword Puzzle Day on December 21st. The New York Times crossword puzzle is probably the most famous in the country, so if you want to test your mettle when it comes to word puzzles, we suggest giving it a go. (You can download the New York Times Crossword app, so you don’t even have to subscribe to the paper!)  Also, while it’s not a crossword puzzle in the traditional sense, Scrabble includes a crossword puzzle structure, so why not play a game with family or friends to pay homage to Crossword Puzzle Day on December 21st.

National Call a Friend Day (Dec 28)

There’s an immense benefit that comes from having a support system of people you love and trust — namely, your friends. Think of your favorite things about specific people or meaningful relationships you have with people and give them a call to express these thoughts to these people this month. A phone call is perfect, and  December 28th, National Call a Friend Day, is a good day to make some calls. When you call, be specific in your compliments using examples that illustrate how your friend embodies the value you’re referring to. You’ll both leave the conversation feeling great.
